Help. Hope. Answers.

Our mission statement is, “ Help. Hope. Answers.”  This week, we have had healthy doses of all three.

HELP: Did you miss the amazing, HOT, cool, fun Care2Spin™ Hula event at Discovery Green last Sunday? Then you missed a chance to participate with a thousand other Houstonians, young and old, rich and less rich, with and without disabilities from all races and creeds in raising awareness and funds for Easter Seals Greater Houston.  Help came from the organizers who have worked tirelessly to address the budget cuts impacting our clients, from John Eagle Honda and Mac DeLaup who are giving back to our community in a really big way; from Integrate Public Relations whose donated services have helped us tell the story of Easter Seals Greater Houston in a big way; to the almost 100 volunteers whose work made the day possible and to the 1,000 friends who participated in this day which reflected what Easter Seals Greater Houston knows-1 in 5 Americans has a disability or other long-term condition which impacts their daily living-whether it is your employee with a child with a developmental delay, your colleague injured in a car wreck, or your grandmother who had a stroke.  This impacts every family, every income group, every race, every religion – every community.

HOPE: Hope came in the form of an anonymous donor who has worked with ABC to produce a show highlighting a few of the life-changing programs of Easter Seals Greater Houston and its partners.  This donor felt so strongly that if people understood our work, understood the need – then the almost $1 million in budget cuts we received could be addressed by us as a community – as individuals and companies in Houston – giving $5, $10, $100 or…$25,000….or $100,000!  The special will air on Monday, September 5th (Labor Day) at 10:35 p.m. on ABC Channel 13 KTRK. Here is the link for more information:
